Tokens
Tokens are variables that are shared between design and the code. Their aim is to parameterize a systematic approach as well as to automatically synchronize the implemented styles with the intended designs. There are three levels of tokens, ranging from general to specific.
- Global Tokens
These tokens represent all possible values for certain visual aspect, such as colors. They do not represent any opinion on how or where these values are used, just that they are available to the project.
- Alias Tokens
These tokens represent design decisions, which determine which global tokens are used where and why. For example, an `alias.colors.primary.base` alias token could refer to the `global.colors.purple.500` global token.
- Component Tokens
These are highly specific tokens that attach styling information to components. These tokens often reference alias tokens and sometimes global tokens. For example, the `card.backgroundColor` component token might be set to the `surface.container.low` alias color token, and the `card.borderRadius` might be set to the `global.borderRadius.500` global token.
